Dalai Lama in Berlin
heidrun • May 19. 2008 • POLITICAL AFFAIRS
today there was a big demonstration for tibet and the dalai lama in front of brandenburger tor here in berlin. before there was a shameful discussion, questioning if the dalai lama should be received in audience by the german government - our chancellor gave him last autumn a private audience and the government of china reacted very angry. for this reason the german government show the white feather by this visit. i never heard such a speaker during a demonstrations... with kindness, humor and a really relaxed manner. not loud and aggressive, screaming around. but his tenor is clear and strong.
there were about 25.000 people standing around me, so I couldn´t really see him. the only thing i could see was a small little man -like an orange point. but thankfully there was a big video screen.
at the end the peoples greeted him and sent their wishes for dialogue for freedom, leaving their balloons with the colors of tibet, flying into the sky and as a message to the world.

nerd is trend

customers of uta geyer, the owner of the lunettes brillenagentur berlin
usually live in berlin mitte and spend nights out celebrating Berlin chic, which is renowned for being a selective and targeted stage for tastelessness.
Recently, unworn eyewear originals from past decades, especially those from the 80´s, have reached a high peak of requests.
you can get some inspiration by looking at first cutting-edge celebrities like
bill gates, wearing horn-rimmed glasses and writing his first computer programs or play run dmc and beastie boys, who made the brand Cazal famous
… especially the model 951….according to rumors people were killed for these glasses, as told in the song "snatchin cazals" by hip hop band Cazal Boys from 1985.
the xxl horn-rimmed glasses remains an awkward assesoire, besides … you are a freak yeah;) go for it!
the hottest brands ever are Alpina, Neostyle and Carrera , they should when possible have ”made in west germany” printed on the spectacle´s temple, only then the authenticity is garanteed!
the gecko at rosi´s
Marcello • May 15. 2008 • URBAN COMMUNICATION
a quick advise for tonight...Espin, front singer of DISH and The Gecko, who rocked the stage at the end of the summer PLATOON.festival 2006, is performing tonight with the Gecko at Rosi's in F'schain. it's a very important gig for them, and they would really love your support... it should be a really great evening we hope you come along.
Rosi's - Revalerstrasse 29 at 9 o'clock, they start early because they are playing support for Promises Promises, a band from Western Germany. the entrance is only € 5

It's not Rio...
Philipp • May 15. 2008 • URBAN COMMUNICATION
Excited by the great weather and all I heard about this big event, I didn't want to miss Berlin's unique "Karneval der Kulturen" on the last pentecost-weekend.Leaving the metro station on Hermannplatz, I immediately dived into masses of people, who partied the streets of Kreuzberg. More than 4000 artists, representing 80 nations, entertaining over a million visitors - it was quite an impressive picture of Berlin's cultural diversity.
The procession, consisting of hundred different wagons, each representing an own cultural lifestyle, moved from Hermannplatz to Yorckstrasse - separated by dancing people, shaking their bodies to different sounds from all over the world.
It was real fun being among them, especially because of all those nice costumes and colorful appearances.
Never having seen it, i must admit on the downside, that the event also reminded me of the numerous pictures and clips of the famous Love Parade I saw throughout the media. Most people shook to the drum'n bass wagons and big transparents spanning the streets and reminding people to drink water, gave the carneval a special Berlin touch.
Nevertheless, all the artists did their best to show their way to party hilariously on this sunny weekend on the streets.
It's not Rio - it's Berlin, fine enough...?
