KUNSTHALLE GWANGJU PRE-OPENING

Finally the day arrived when KUNSTHALLE GWANGJU kicked off on May 12th its pre-opening as part of 'The Flower of May' art exhibition. The opening ceremony was held at the Gwangju Museum of Art and afterwards a shuttle bus escorted the crowd to KUNSTHALLE GWANGJU that hosts art works from Baptist Coelho, Rainer Ganahl, Seungchan Kwon, Moonho Ma and Caecilia Tripp.

The exhibition is going to be held until 13th of June and the opening hours of KUNSTHALLE GWANGJU are 10:00 a.m - 18:00. Details and directions can be found on www.kunsthalle-gwangju.com

EAT CAKE PARTY

the party starts at 1:30 pm with a special brunch and barbecue and goes on until the last guest leaves.

PLATOON KUNSTHALLE invites you to the first public viewing event, ecuador vs. korea, in a unique indoor stadium setting within the scope of pre-world cup NIKE 2010 energy space. let's chill and cheer with drinks and barbecue when our favorite national soccer team presents us their fighting spirit for the last time on home ground before they leave for south-africa. there will be a special performance by nobrain and a new media art installation by lumpens, so don't miss it!

this event is by invitation only. PLATOON KUNSTHALLE gives away 50 x 2 tickets for the public viewing on the 16 may. to get free tickets just send a mail to mail@kunsthalle.com!

PLATOON PRESENTS: HUNEE

PLATOON KUNSTHALLE invites you to the first episode of a special party series.
every second thursday in a month will be a premiere for outstanding djs, musicians and performers out of the PLATOON network: our contribution to the lively seoul nightlife scene.

HUNEE will be the first dj/producer to hit the decks. hunee's dj sets are rough, spontaneous and energetic. coming from a hip hop background he nowadays prefers to start off somewhere between disco and house. while playing with djs like kerri chandler, mark seven, rahaan, patrice scott, lexx, quarion, daniel wang, gerd janson, bugz in the attic etc. he proofed that the variety of musical genres and technical styles are the basis for a musical journey that could end up anywhere. for this gig HUNEE agreed to play a long set which gives him time to develop a musical trip instead of just cramming everything into a 2 hour set.
the open attitude towards music comes also through in his tracks, released on feel music, w.t. records, internasjonal, retreat, drumpoet community and permanent vacation.

TRADITION OF REVOLUTION

KUNSTHALLE GWANGJU GROWS FAST!

here a short update on what is going on in the southern korean city of gwangju:

as we joined forces with the ministry of culture of krorea last year to built this new place and run it for the next years we are now speeding up to open it soon this summer.


finally summer started in korea and gives us a bright glance on the venue and its brand new containers.


as you can see the color of the containers are not olive as usual PLATOON containers but in a decent dark grey/black.


the venue will consist of 29 containers and will provide diverse facilities for creating cultural ineraction.
