not even the almost tropical heat of july can stop our night flea market! the shop & chill party continues also this month with cool drinks, outdoor bbq, one of a kind items and the funniest people seoul has to offer. for the musical part ribbon society awaits with soulful house in a live performance and of course djing with electronic dj duo astro boys and dj mang. we will open the garage door to our backyard and also the rooftop bar, so don't miss it!

this time we start our night flea market at 6pm until 10pm, so that we all can watch the world cup tournament game!

1:0 VICTORY WITH RESTRAINED JUBILATION

so, we won.. hmm but not exactly in the proudest manner! over 200 people celebrated with us at the match yesterday. germany won, but after a match like that we're quite happy that they didn't kick out the last african team in the World Cup - that would have been unfair, bad karma and all the rest of it!










































yes, our young soccer heroes didn't perform their best game. but a victory is a victory and we hope to see more brilliance next time!



















































also, who needs brilliant soccer when they have brillian BBQ and an amazing bar team! thank you guys for last night!

A SPECIAL ON EE

the creator's project, a partnership with intel and vice, has made a pretty rad documentation about our artist in residence E and his "Total Art Performance Group" EE.







EE is a project E is doing with his wife E. Yunjung. in this little documentation the 2 newly weds are introducing their art performance piece "curiosity kills" (video directed by lumpens).












"curiosity kills" has a mirror function, showing the curious and voyeuristic side of entertainment. it aims to trigger some form of reaction from the audience, even if it ends up simply being confusion.










on the creator's project side you'll also find a pretty swell interview, ee's biography and their music videos. the latter is especially worth checking out for all you germans, since most of these videos are sometimes difficult to find online.

E will have his final solo exhibition bang at PLATOON KUNSTHALLE at the end of august but we will keep you posted, of course!

TILMAN PORSCHUETZ EXHIBTION BERLIN

he's back! artist in residence, tilman porschuetz is back in berlin.

as his first coup, he has landed an exhibition at the korean cultural centre. we were there at the exhibition opening and watched his breathtaking gasp-long performance (yes exactly one breath long!.. and no, nothing else would follow.(nice!))




the exhibition with the title "fremdkoerper" (german for: alien element) displays works that reflect everyday korean symbolism - but through the eyes of a western, albeit slightly warped perspective.














gum boots, duct tape, rice paper, traditional monk garments and concrete are questioned by tilman's works - they are redefined and re-evaluated through his eyes.















through his alien and critical observation of korean objects and phenomenas that are usually dismissed as self-evident, tilman opens the viewers eyes to the contrast of german and korean perception.
































we were thrilled to find the entire PLATOON crew represented in one of the showcases and we would like to congratulate the korean embassy to their new and very well set-up cultural centre!

tilman's exhibition will go on until the 02.07.2010. and you can go and see it at the korean cultural centre berlin, leipziger platz 3.

AFTER A WEEKEND OF WORLD CUP, WE SUMMARIZE AND ARE LONGING FOR MORE!

4 weeks of soccer madness have begun. I know you were able to tell already, especially if you are following us on facebook.

both PLATOONS have been busy keeping the BBQs smouldering, the beers chilled and the atmosphere flirring.
the weekend was filled with amazing, albeit mighty cold (here in BERLIN that is), evenings. we've watched as SOUTH KOREA defeated GREECE in a smashing 2:0 victory.











we were there when GERMANY had its grand entrance to the WORLD CUP stage with a 4:0 against AUSTRALIA last sunday.


















almost 100 people celebrated with us as the NORTH KOREAN team scored against the almighty BRAZILIAN team. and we thank every single one of you for making this first WORLD CUP weekend into such a fantastic event.













there is heaps more to come! (download PLATOON BERLIN game plan) tomorrow we'll be presented with yet another round of KOREAN soccer madness. PLATOON BERLIN will be opening 1.5 hours before the match (= 12:00pm) and will be featuring another mouthwatering korean BBQ for lunch.

in the evening (= 7:00pm) our little culinary soccer tour will take us over to mexico with PAOLA as master of the grill and MEXICO vs. FRANCE on the pitch.








friday the youngest WORLD CUP team this year will enter the stage again: the GERRRRMANS vs. SERBIA. PLATOON BERLIN will proceed just like the day before! (open 1.5 hours before the match) with a DONNERSTAGSBAR-like BBQ for lunch and again in the evening (= 7:00pm) to spice up the ENGLAND vs. ALGERIA match.

happily ever after: wedding party EE · PLATOON style

SEOUL · our artist in residence E married his lovely fiancee E last thurstday. after the big wedding ceremony with all the things that koreans have to do when they got married, the newly weds EE celebrated with their closest friends at PLATOON KUNSTHALLE with a party that nobody will forget so soon.

even the invitation promissed a special night...
