Hands away from mellowpark

It has been feared since a long time but now it´s official, europe´s biggest outdoor sport- and leisure park, the MELLOWPARK will be closed on the 31st of december 2008.
the park, existing since 2001, offers to children, youngsters and families supervised skate facilities, a playground as well as volley- basketball, and football grounds. furthermore the park gathers all aspects of youth culture, going from rehearsal rooms for bands to a youth hostel.

Mellowpark made a name of itself during the years also outside berlin. mostly through events like Highway to hill, German Open (BMX championship) and Summerclash.

unfortunately a nightmare has become true for the operators of the park.
the Treuhand-Gesellschaft handed in notice to the „all eins e.V“ who runs the mellowpark, which will officially terminate on the 31st of december 2008. they are in fact planning to build luxus apartments on the site.

the syndicate of the initiative „hands away from Mellowpark“ dont want to give up thou, they will keep fighting for their park! at least to find an equivalent site for it.
PLATOON supports Mellowpark....and you should do it as well.

„Sieben gegen Theben“ von Aischylos / Karge / Langhoff
„Hoch Oben“ (UA) – Satyrspiel von Karsten Stegemann

„Wer Schuld sucht wird Schuld finden, vieles ist
Recht heut und Unrecht morgen, wies der Sinn
Grad braucht um leichten Weg zu gehen.“

Inszenierung
Aischylos’ Tragödie über den Krieg um Theben, den Bruderkampf der Söhne des Ödipus um die Macht, wurde 1968 von Karge/Langhoff neu adaptiert und am BE inszeniert. Im Zuge der Zerschlagung des Prager Frühlings wurde die Aufführung in der DDR untersagt.
Die Inszenierung zeigt die Tragödie in der 68er Fassung erstmals wieder auf dem Theater, weitergeführt und kommentiert mit Texten von Heiner Müller (Auszüge aus „Landschaft mit Argonauten“ und aus der „Hamletmaschine“) und der Uraufführung des Satyrspiels „Hoch Oben“ von Karsten Stegemann.
Der Bruderkonflikt des geteilten Deutschlands und die damit verbundenen Reaktionen in Ost und West auf die Vorgänge in Prag werden, in überspitzter und grotesker Form, somit auch Gegenstand der Aufführung.

Ausstattung
Der übersichtliche Theaterraum der Brotfabrik wird gesprengt. Eine Arena wurde in die Mitte des Raumes gesetzt, ähnlich antiker Spielstätten. Wie ein UFO beherrscht es den Raum, drumherum sitzen die Zuschauer und erleben den antiken Stierkampf der acht Spieler, die als Referenz an das Jubiläum des Prager Frühlings den Diskolook der späten 1960igern wieder aufleben lassen.

Musik
Die Arbeit mit dem Chor wurde verstanden als musikalische Einstudierung, bei der das Rhythmisieren von Sprache jedoch anders aufgefasst ist als im klassischen Drama. So werden die Chorpassagen weitgehend begleitet von Schlagwerk, das den Sprachrhythmus aufgreift, unterstützt, konterkariert. Die Perkussion verweist dabei mit ihrer heterogenen Instrumentierung (Spielmannszugtrommel, Klaviermechanik, Objets trouvès) ebenso auf die Avantgarde der 1960er Jahre wie auch die Gesangspartien Stilzitate der Zeit sind. So wird dann auch die griechische Kithara zur sächsischen Zither, Heiner Müller lässt den Beat laufen und die Engelschöre singt der Vocoder.

Unser Team arbeitet seit vier Jahren eng zusammen. Unter der Regie von Sebastian Klink entstanden „Eva Braun Medea“ (UA) von Karsten Stegemann, (2008, Eigenreich; Ausstattung: Gregor Sturm, Musik: Stefan Weihrauch), „Philoktet“ von Heiner Müller (2007, Theaterdiscounter; Ausstattung: Gregor Sturm, Musikalische Einstudierung: Stefan Weihrauch) und „Endspiel“ von Samuel Beckett (2006, BAT-Theater und Akademie der Künste Pariser Platz; Ausstattung: Gregor Sturm). Oliver Knick inszenierte in der Ausstattung von Gregor Sturm die UA der Kammeroper „Elizaveta Bam“ von Stefan Weihrauch (2007, Semperoper Dresden).

GANA Art 25th Anniversary Exhibition.

most of the art spaces in seoul are in ...? it's pyungchangdong! we all went there yesterday for gana art gallery's 25th anniversary exhibition .
the exhibition will be opened from 04/09 ~ 21/09.
it was a very nice opening party. here is more information about the exhibition.
"celebrating its 25th anniversary, gana hold the present exhibition.the exhibition filled with stories of artists who have worked with gana. preparing the exhibition,the 24 participating artists had some special time to converse with each other. 12 artists who have collaborated with gana art for over 20 years and 12 young ones who have just started to work with gana made pairs and had heart -to-heart talks sharing their thoughts on art, questions on each other's works,view of art world,and the philosophy of life.it is not fresh or new idea to arrange this kind of conversation between old&young. however, these days, there are not many chances the both could meet and have open talks. this is why gana prepared the encounters between them.the views on art that the artists working with gana have could stand for the gallery's orientation. through their mouths,gana art wants to unfold its story and values.
as the way of life have changed with years, the way of artists' entering upon the art world have a lot changed.here, the positive change was that the newcomers do not depend on any special route or power to step forward in art circles any more. now,they could solely depend on their art to express themselves. in the mean time,however,the individualism, snobbish attitude, and trend-chasing tendency have widely spread among artists. moreover,many people are worrying that it is not easy to find names of senior artists in exhibition pamphlets.in their self-scorning talks that old artists,the main props and stays of korean art, are losing ground in present art scene which is only focusing on young artists ,i see the reality of korean are world which have a burden of thinking to establish a healthy vision for the future art......"
"25주년을 맞이하며 가나아트센터에서 선보이는 이번 전시는 그렇게 가나아트와 함께하는 작가들이 들려주는 이야기다.이번전시에 참여한 24명의 작가들은 전시를 준비하는 과정속에서 새로운 대화의 시간을 가졌다. 가나아트와 20년 넘는 세월을 동고동락해온 중견작가 12명과 이제 막 가나아트와 인연을 맺은 젊은 작가 12명이 서로짝을 이루어 , 함께만나면서 서로의 작품세계,작업에 대한 궁금중,예술관,더 나아가 인생관 등을 터놓고 얘기하는 시간을 가졌다. 어찌 보면 상투적일수도 있는 이러한 관계를 설정한 이유는, 과거에 비해 미술계 선후배가 만나 서로 작업에 대하여 터놓고얘기 할 수 있는 장이 부족한 현실 속에서 그러한 장을 만들어 보자는 생각과, 가나와 함께하고 있는 작가들의 작업관,예술관과 가나아트가 지향하는 예술관이 서로 통할것이므로 그들의 이야기를 통해 가나아트의 역사와 가치관을 이야기해보자는 의도에서였다.
세월의 흐름 속에서 삶의 방식이 달라진 만큼이나, 작가들이 미술계에 입문하는 방식도 많이 바뀌었다.긍정적인 측면이라면,과거와 비교했을 때 특별한 루트나 어떤 특정 권위에 의존하지않고, 오로지 자신만의 작품만으로 승부가 가능한 열린 세상이 되었다는 점일 것이다.그러나,한편으로는 작가들이 훨씬 개인주의적으로 변하였고, 유아독존적 성향이 강해졌으며,트랜드에 좌우되어 생명이 짧아져버렸다는 이야기들도 들려온다.그리고, 언제부턴가 전시회에서 원로 .중견작가의 이름을 찾기가 쉽지 않아졌다는 한탄과 우려의 목소리도높다. 너 나할 것 없이 젊은 작가만을 찾는 풍토가 만연하여, 한국미술의 핵심적 기둥인 중견작가들이 설 땅이 없다는 자조섞인 이야기속에서, 건강한 미래비젼을 세워나가기위해 고민하고있는 한국미술계의 오늘을 본다......" more information.-3rd bridge

RIFRAZIONI

our new italian PLATOON.members are creating a buzz on the seaside just few miles outside Rome. art collective CERCLE is in fact organizing the third edition of RIFRAZIONI – an international festival of performative, visual and musical arts.




protagonists of this edition will be London based collective „Leibniz“, represented by Ernst Fisher and Helen Spackman and by Chilean collective „Deformes“, masterminded by Gonzalo Rabanal, one of Chile´s most innovative exponents of performing arts. Berlin collective „Invasor“ will also take part in the initiative along with members of the Brazilian group "Teatro Oficina" and several other Swiss and Italian artists.









the locations of the festival (a mediaeval castle overlooking the beach and the ruins of the ancient Nero Villa) will be a source of inspiration for the many creatives involved; their engagement with the local reality will bring new works into life wich somehow will have as result an elaboration and re-interpretation of the local identity.


interventions in theatre, dance, cinema, photography and visual arts will follow contemporary social topics such as: politics of the body, migration and social exclusion.





RIFRAZIONI wants to diversify the cultural offer in the area, aiming at interdisciplinary cross-overs in a sort of contamination between the arts and global cultures. the festival, in fact, presents itself as a „free zone„ for the interaction of several disciplines, genres and contemporary forms of communication.
