SHOWCASE REBOOT @ PLATOON KUNSTHALLE SEOUL, THU 21st May, 7PM

three new artists will present their works in the showcases from thursday 21st may on.

vs’ stencil-based works from the series “skills of killing for survival” transmit a rough energy that reflect the competitive environment of today’s art schools in korea.

beom’s hundreds of stylized crash test dummies from the “dummymen” series are run the big machinery called capitalistic society - a bitter yet amusing satirical comment on korea’s consumption-oriented society.

the members of the graffiti research lab experiment with open source technologies for urban communication. their works stand in the tradition of street art as urban guerrilla and are a useful toolbox for anybody who shares the similar roots like graffiti writers, artists and political activists.

the showcase reboot will be celebrated with a bbq starting from 7pm.

during todays team meeting in the berlin PLATOON, some of us have been heavily tortured by the season specifics.











unfortunately martin cannot laugh about this summer snow-play...

build it, watch it, drive it, build it

For the past two weeks I have been helping with the assemble of the containers for the Mindestlohn, and I think it has been a very interesting process to be in different cities doing the same work.






At some point you have to realize that most of the work to move the containers from one city to another has to be done in advance, and that it takes a lot of time to organize the trucks, crane, transportation, hotel, union contact, permissions, and 300 things that are needed to move the containers.






Most of this people working behind the operations are never seen because when the containers are being assembled in one site they have to organize the next location. This is a never ending process...






I am looking forward to take the containers to a new location...

DGB and ver.di we organized many different tasks -from t-shirts, banners to exhibition-containers. thanks to our helpers on site for their intensive support.

KIEZ FEST KREUZBERG

on the 14.01.09 opened the tendering procedure for the lot on Oberbaumstr. 11/12, Falckensteinstr. 1-3, Schlesische Str. 40a/41.

an investor bid 800.000€ to buy the land and build yet another hotel, which would mean the end of the L.U.X and other important landmarks in the area.















few nights ago the lightpirates went on a VJbombing mission to visually blame the investors for not taking into account the environment in which they wish to settle in.















we want this important location for the wrangler kiez to be preserved at least with a reasonable and sustainable concept in tune with the area…and not another Hotel…xberg isnt the nex playground for tourists! lets not make another mistake like the o2 monstrous arena.













tomorrow 16.05 the alliance for social and self-determined urban development (will organised a block party to make citizens in the neighbourhood aware of this scandal.

it should be a poetic and arty event with excellent actors angela winkler, almut kühne + bobo.
but together it's an actual manifesto and program with intellectual affinity to the poet-icon of the romantic NOVALIS.
in the village, where he lived and died, now the meat-mafia wants to expand the industrial butchery for killing pigs up to 20.000 every day.

ABOLISH MONDAY!

every week is the same... you get to the end of the week-end with a terrible hung over and the next morning you think... bloody monday!!!

so when i saw this streetart cut-out on my way to work i had to smile. if that is a new campaign to really abolish mondays, im definitely with it!

however i could guess straight away who were the mischiefs makers behind it. complice in crime blue&joy are the obvious suspects.... not so long ago i heard them saying that during a street art exhibition in milan they started to play with the idea to take on the streets... mostly because they kept being snubbed by a bunch of so called „real“ street artist who kept pointing out that blue&joy´s artwork had nothing to do with street art... is that true? i think that such elitist view of streetart would definitely be the end of it.

however it seems like they quite enjoyed their urban art escapade... im sure they will be up for it again. watch out for more of blue&joy´s discouraging urban adventures... next time they could be just down your street.
