the korea international art fair (kiaf) 2008 opened in seoul at the coex convention center in seoul.kiaf is a project organized by the gallery association of korea and took place in 2002 for the first time. the kiaf 2007 was a great success with about 64,000 art lovers visiting. in 2008, over 5,000 pieces are shown. the place is such a huge space, i couldn't look through all the booths but it was a very nice impression to me. i liked especially the fact that all different kinds of art works were shown there. most gallery didn't allow taking picture... but i did some, you can tell how hard it was to take all these pics.^^* i got almost kicked out of there hehe. but... i have highly advanced technical skills muhahahahaha...
i went to the exhibition with udo's friend hae-lin and we both thought that this is an amazing piece of art (painted on acrylic)
here are some art works by korean artists - this time many korean artist were involved.
i met many european artists.
this picture is full of 'korean emotion'... i like it a lot.
scribble on the wall. .. i did something too hehehe... a fun time.
i only wrote "www.platoon.org" and name part did...
we randomly met some of udo's friends... (hansong and soang)
also hansong's mom song hyun-soo is an artist at the kiaf, she will have an exhibition from next week on at the hakgojae gallery.

MANIFESTA 7
Angela • October 5. 2008 • URBAN COMMUNICATION
what are students doing in long holidays?????? ;-)i had a great trip to MANIFESTA 7.
here a short recommendation ...
MANIFESTA is an european festival/platform for contemporary art. it is held in different locations, every two years.
this year MANIFESTA 7 takes place in italy, in the region of trentino-alto adige/south tyrol. manifesta 7 is located in bozen, franzenfeste, rovereto and trento.
MANIFESTA 7 occupied with the topic "art in industrial buildings". the exhibitions and events in those four cities are held in extraordinary places ... an old tobacco factory, an former aluminium factory, ...
the bigger part of those (about 200) artists are rather nameless - which definitely changes nothing in quality of works!! you'll see things like drawings, different installations, videoclips, music-experiments, smell-experiments, light-art, also works with nonsense material or waste, sound-installations, documents of writers, silent-movies... and many many more!!! besides, a huge supporting programm and some workshops.

by the way, at the exhibition in bozen (i really recommend you the exhibition there!!) i also "found" an ETOY container > 5 crew members did there a "self-encapsulation" for a so-called "mission eternity" (more infos).
i had beautiful days there!!
maybe you've time to visit...

urban art inspires fight against global warming
Marcello • September 18. 2008 • URBAN COMMUNICATION
well, we just saw this incredible video and thought to share it with you although it has been around since a while. the original idea came from NYC based street artist Joshua Allen Harris, check out some of his previous stuff via woostercollective and the interview below. however the video above was made for the Environmental Defense Fund by director Tim Godsall and the agency: Ogilvy for the fightglobalwarming campaign. i find it very interesting to see how subcultures influence and interact with the corporate and political sphere these days...
watch this video to know more about Joshua and his art.

"art from pyongyang korea" is the first official exibition of north korean art abroad.readig this you'd think of colorful propaganda art and at least two portraits of kim jong-il.
the ministry of culture presents us mainly beautiful landcapes with snowful mountains and, of course, cherry blossoms trees and birds at the art center berlin.
fortunately there is a box in a corner of the exibition space with much more paintings:
you can have a deeper look into this strange and interessting world where regime conform artists are divided in the people's artists and merited artist
