DJ SEMINAR: ATTENTION VOL.3 @ PLATOON KUNSTHALLE

last saturday about 70 participants from different backgrounds gathered at PLATOON KUNSTHALLE to enjoy the attention vol.3 dj seminar, organized by the team that also runs the club dj cafe-forum.
we had a nice afternoon between currywurst, dj demonstrations and testing of exclusive dj equipment for everyone.
my personal highlight came up in the end: i had the honor to pick the winner of the prize lottery, who got a ableton live 8 dj software. i've got the power.

thanks to the dj seminar we got a valuable insight into the world of djing!

miller fresh m - ready for stage 2

thank you to all participating artists, musicians and vjs! but it's in the nature of a competition that not everybody can get to the next round. this time 4 a/v teams and 4 design artists were picked to move on to the second stage! here they are (in no particular order):

MILLER FRESH M COMPETITON - STAGE 1

all PLATOON members had lots to do for the miller fresh m competition at PLATOON KUNSTHALLE. after we finished to set up the stage, lighting and visuals the atmosphere was great even before the first act started. at that point it was like the silence before the storm and nobody could expect how many people would gather in the hall.





seeing the long line that almost reached dosan sageori, everybody felt more strain and excitement building up!














and suddenly the whole container building was really packed in the first 30 min. ok, now we can tell, around 2000 people came to participate in this event!





























the concept was to team up live electronic musicians and vjs and let them perform an audio/visual show. it is probably the first time in korea that such a competition took place at such a big scale!













people could listen to the music of the audio/visual teams at these stations in case they missed some performances. after listening and watching they could vote for their favorite team. also people could see and vote for graphic artists’ works in the showcases.











all a/v teams, graphic artists and jury members(in the picture it's hash, founder of samurai.fm) had an interview with people from the MTV show ‘24hours’. for almost 48 hours the producers had recorded the whole event from the early stages to the end.













all a/v teams showed their best gigs and professional music and visuals. this event was really successful with a lot of crazy people visiting. and dj krush (also one of the jury members) went out to play the final gig which kept most people staying at PLATOON KUNSTHALLE until 2.30am



















it was a hard choice but finally the jury had to pick 4 a/v teams and 4 graphic artists who will go to the next round. thank you everybody for coming, performing and making all this possible! see you again at stage 2!

Art Gallery Trouble Maker 2009

on monday our studio artist junkhouse, udo, ohyun, and me went to "trouble maker 2009", a small art exhibition at cha gallery near gyeongbokgung.
the curator is the artist yp, who also participated in the miller m fresh competition at PLATOON KUNSTHALLE last friday.
here are some impressions...

Introduction of the new Intern: Ubin de Berlin

my name is ubin like rubin without a "r" (rubin=german expr. for ruby). the hard facts: i was born in 1987. i'm from berlin kreuzberg. i study at the university of arts berlin. my major? i've got many majors, because my study course is interdisciplinary (graphic design, verbal communication, communication and media science, audiovisual communication etc.)
now i'm doing an internship at PLATOON KUNSTHALLE for 2 months.
the first time i came in touch with PLATOON KUNSTHALLE was in march before the opening.
udo gave me a tour through the building and told me about the ideas of PLATOON KUNSTHALLE.
a place for subcultures in seoul. a place where subcultures can come together and live out their activities. my first thought was: i wanna be part of that. i wanna get an impression of the subcultural scenes in seoul, which were so unreachable for me before, although i came to this city many times.

and now (thanks to the PLATOON KUNSTHALLE chef) my dream of original schnitzel and german bread in korea came true, too.
life can be so beautiful sometimes. just like a fairytale.

thanks to everyone for coming yesterday to the PechaKuchaNight here on the PLATOON.area. it has been an incredible night and the presentations were all very interesting and diverse...







we also presented our KUNSTHALLE in Seoul and we hope that those of you who want to know more about PLATOON will come to visit us at our recruiting office!















once again we had a very special evening... a big thank goes to all the PecheKucha Team, they really brought a nice vibe to the area!















we hope that you all enjoyed it as much as we did!
and we are very sorry for all those who didnt manage to get in... unfortunately we had a limited number of seats..it was totally packed, and it would have been unfair towards those who made it on time.
