URBAN AFFAIRS EXTENDED

On the weekend i met up with my personal design heroes beata, oli and flo at their FUK Laboratory - they are in the final throes creating the identity for this years URBAN AFFAIRS that takes place at STATTBAD (guess what, it's a former swimming pool) just across the street.

"URBAN AFFAIRS extended, presents in this second edition, an International selection of world renowned Urban and Streetart artist. Following the motto of the exhibition name this year, numerous external artistic projects, Galleries and institutions are invited to a new exhibition space in an reappropriated Berlin Swimming pool, with over 2,000 square meters of space available. The focus is on the reunification of Urban and contemporary art, interactive performances site specific works with the utilisation of public spaces."

the vernissage is on July 1st (this Wendnesday) — it will be followed by the opening / fashionweek-afterparty on saturday and numerous other special events like workshops, performances, lectures and parties throughout the month.

Rumors have it that FUK Lab works will also be shown at URBAN AFFAIRS and they will host one of the external exhibitions presenting MYMO

REPORT: CRACKING THE CITY

what a great start of the PLATOON summer!
we had a very chilled day last saturday for the opening of the Cracking the City exhibition.
we´d like to thank all of you who came and hope you enjoyed the event as much as we did.






for those who missed it, here is a short report.
during the day we hosted two small 'cracks' presented in a site-specific manner. the collective repairberlin, a group of activists, artists, architects and scientists presented their series of urban intervention consisting in parking a symbolic park on a carpark in front of our headquarters. the action itself is part of a worldwide movement Park(ing) day established by rebar, an art and design collective from San Francisco. expect to see more of their spontaneous interventions during this summer.



























in the afternoon we also presented two very special guest, the discouraging duo blue&joy. who performed on top of our container, showing us tiny line between happines and sadness.















the exhibition will run till 25th of july and is open Mon-Fri 11-20h. feel free to pass by and share your ''crack'' directly on the wall by pasting stickers.
and dont forget... every thursday from 9 pm our members are invited to join us at our PLATOON.BERLIN area. jette will offer her special drinks and music... and in order to keep your mind engaged with some quality entertainment we will surprise you every thursday with some special performances ;-)

REPORT: MONSTER JAM 2009

last saturday the platoon kunsthalle in seoul hosted the monster jam b-boy battle 2009. the t.i.p crew did their best in order to proof what t.i.p means: teamwork is perfect.

16 b-boys from different countries battled against each other with amazing popping, krumping, locking, stepping, jumping, twisting, spinning, freezing and many more movements.

as some guests were under age it was not allowed to smoke in the kunsthalle until 10 pm - very unusual for a platoon event^^

yesterday,the PLATOON area berlin opened their summerseason.
on the occasion of the exhibition-opening cracking the city, in our ground container, we start in our new
designed yard the time, where the inner voice of all peoples say: you must go outside...in fucking summer.





























now we open the yard for our members, each saturday 3 p.m.

































and prepare with lifeblood the ingredients, that you can have a fine bbq














the bar...o o o is so constructed that you don´t
must go by showers









































so you can have fun with us, or you dump yourself with drinking your beer lonesome at home.
