stage 2 of the miller fresh m event is in preparation and after the performances at stage 1 expectations are high. the 4 audio/visual teams and 4 graphic artists that got voted to the second stage are preparing their new sets and works. jury members will be award winning music video director joseph kahn from los angeles, the international guest act for this night, kap10kurt from new york, and music video producer kazufumi kimura from tokyo. the designer's works will be evaluated by t. kim, president & ceo of mccann worldgroup korea, and christoph frank, co-founder of PLATOON.ORG.

SEOULSONIC VOL.2

thanks to everybody for coming last saturday for seoulsonic vol.2 at PLATOON KUNSTHALLE.
it was quite a nice concert and a cosy atmosphere.









the first show was presented by EE. for me EE was the best team of this concert. they showed powerful performance with kitch style visuals from old korean animations. also they wore stone washed jeans and jackets from the 80’s and two Mr. Es did a really fun performance.















especially the lady, lee yunjeong, had a such big power and stage manner for gathering people, so many people jumped up to the stage and danced there.










































the second team was mad soul child who already participated at seoulsonic vol. 1.
their sound is now well-known to everybody.































last team was mad moiselle. two beautiful ladies(one rapper and one vocalist) drew all attention to them. especially the men’s.












on the rooftop, bbq was ready as always. this time chicken was sooo good!

NIGHT FLEA MARKET VOL.1 @ PLATOON KUNSTHALLE

on saturday the first night flea market presented by bling magazine and PLATOON KUNSTHALLE took place.
45 non-commercial sellers brought all kinds of stuff like hand made accessories, old school cameras and glamourous disco outfits to make our shoppers' hearts beat faster.
the atmosphere was relaxed and cheerful.
everytime i bought something, i got smiling faces and applause from the sellers, even for a 1000 won shirt – that's consumption i really like!
while shopping was going on we were entertained by musicians and the hilarious mc phryme, who led the auction. afterwards djs turned the flea market into a party.
amongst fashion victims and fresh hot dogs we had a pleasant night.





happy sellers and satisfied shoppers everywhere...











handmade accessories were really popular among the shoppers and me.















sonick mc heated up the flea market with live raps...















musicians kwon ooyoo and lee sangheon had an entertaining show including frying pans and dance performances in the middle of the flea market...













mc phryme led a funny auction where he sold sunglasses, shoes and much more.

















about 300 visitors shopped and hung out in a cheerful atmosphere.

















PLATOON KUNSTHALLE 's very important ladies came to shopping too and then~~they loved it!!! so much fun!

DJ SEMINAR: ATTENTION VOL.3 @ PLATOON KUNSTHALLE

last saturday about 70 participants from different backgrounds gathered at PLATOON KUNSTHALLE to enjoy the attention vol.3 dj seminar, organized by the team that also runs the club dj cafe-forum.
we had a nice afternoon between currywurst, dj demonstrations and testing of exclusive dj equipment for everyone.
my personal highlight came up in the end: i had the honor to pick the winner of the prize lottery, who got a ableton live 8 dj software. i've got the power.

thanks to the dj seminar we got a valuable insight into the world of djing!

MILLER FRESH M COMPETITON - STAGE 1

all PLATOON members had lots to do for the miller fresh m competition at PLATOON KUNSTHALLE. after we finished to set up the stage, lighting and visuals the atmosphere was great even before the first act started. at that point it was like the silence before the storm and nobody could expect how many people would gather in the hall.





seeing the long line that almost reached dosan sageori, everybody felt more strain and excitement building up!














and suddenly the whole container building was really packed in the first 30 min. ok, now we can tell, around 2000 people came to participate in this event!





























the concept was to team up live electronic musicians and vjs and let them perform an audio/visual show. it is probably the first time in korea that such a competition took place at such a big scale!













people could listen to the music of the audio/visual teams at these stations in case they missed some performances. after listening and watching they could vote for their favorite team. also people could see and vote for graphic artists’ works in the showcases.











all a/v teams, graphic artists and jury members(in the picture it's hash, founder of samurai.fm) had an interview with people from the MTV show ‘24hours’. for almost 48 hours the producers had recorded the whole event from the early stages to the end.













all a/v teams showed their best gigs and professional music and visuals. this event was really successful with a lot of crazy people visiting. and dj krush (also one of the jury members) went out to play the final gig which kept most people staying at PLATOON KUNSTHALLE until 2.30am



















it was a hard choice but finally the jury had to pick 4 a/v teams and 4 graphic artists who will go to the next round. thank you everybody for coming, performing and making all this possible! see you again at stage 2!

MODERAT @ PLATOON SEOUL

just a small report on our stunning concert last week: who couldn't join did miss something very special.. not just special for korea but also to my whole life.

at the beginning everybody was quite nervous about how the concert will be appreciated by the people of seoul. but the three rock heroes prepared everything for the great battle.













but after a while the crowed got bigger and bigger and finally the PLATOON was packed! the show started.. and for sure: the people freaked out.















there where maybe 400 people rocking the place.















amazing visuals! you should buy the DVD!!!














but after the show the real party started:
















sascha and gernot couldn't stop.. so they board the DJ-booth and rocked an after-show which will become legendary!
















over hours they made the people going wild..














LJ max (light jockey) was so exhausted playing our regular light switches.. he was drinking directly from the tab...

the story of the following water sports can not be written down here ;-)




we will prepare a video from the concert in the next days.. so stay tuned.

LIVE @ PLATOON KUNSTHALLE: MODERAT IN CONCERT

THURSDAY, JULY 23, 10 PM



moderat is a collaboration of three successful projects that joined forces to create a new audiovisual experience. on the audio side modeselektor and apparat (hence the name, moderat) put a lot of efforts into developing a unique sound. they rented studio space at the legendary berlin hansa studios (where david bowie recorded 'heroes') in order to record the album in analog with the help of the studio's vintage tube technology and an old emi console from 1972, restored especially for moderat. they even hired joshua kit clayton, an american software designer, to program a superb reverb algorithm specifically for the recording process of the album. They also bought an emt model 140 plate reverb on an internet auction and had to travel to los angeles to pick it up. for the album they worked together with rapper busdriver from los angeles, delle (aka eased) from germany's top act seeed and paul st. hilaire.

on the visual side one of berlin's first and finest vj crews, pfadfinderei, provided some exclusive visual material. in contrary to their fast club-based fast paced style they created a whole new visual experience through decelerated images. moderat was one of the main acts on this year's sonar festival in barcelona and tour worldwide with their show.
