opening of 'the book society' by mediabus

last friday, some platoon members went to a bookstore opening of 'the book society' by mediabus in the hongdae area. mediabus is an independent publishing company in seoul. and most of their books are related to art&design.



















for the opening, lee won yeol, a vocalist of indi band '은희의 노을(eunhee's sunset) had a small concert there. after he read some poet from T.S Eliot, he made some song and sang before.



























ohyun and yeunsoo were busy with another business, drinking beer.:)








































I found some artwork of our platoon artist, ohyun in 'walking magazine'.

















also we supported and bought the books of songhojun to help him gather money for his satellite project.

A flock of Bimaculate Ducks swarm over Geumgang Lake in Gunsan, South Korea. They spend their winters in Korea, Japan or China; in summer they return to Siberia. The Baikal Teals are an endangered species.

We are in the end of January, it means that Berlin Fashion Week is over... but really... what means this event for normal people in Berlin? are they interested in the massive amount of strange people doing strange stuff in Berlin? do the notice the liters of perfume wasted everyday in the city? but I am sure they notice the Starbucks cups all over the place....
Last sunday I took a small walk around Berlin Mitte.... and I found an amazing amount of Stabucks cups everywhere... I could not resist to take some pictures of them...

for all smart phone lovers and musicians, besides guitarists, drummers and singers, in the future we will have iphonists, too.

stanford university students explore new ways to create music by manipulating the multimedia opportunities of their iPhones.

sound-wise, it reminds me of steve reich or philip glass.

PLATOON @ JAMES TURELL

on friday the PLATOON berlin crew made a trip to wolfsburg to enter the fascinating light spheres of james turell.




turell realized his largest light installation in kunstmuseum wolfsburg- a huge white cube with spheric light.



when you enter the room through the gate you feel like floating in color- turell creates a room through light.
the borders of this room are not concrete- if there wasn´t a physical wall you couldn´t tell how big the room is.
despite the funny shoe-protection it´s has a bit of an unearthly experience.




after 10 minutes we all felt a bit dizzy and went on to a darker installation where some of us got lost in the dark - i can´t fight the feeling that they increased the number of security when our group entered the exhibition. ;)



a great day with great people!- sure this was not the last exhibition the platoon crew rocked.
