why is it that palestinians and israelis don´t get along together?

face2face is a new project in the middle east trying to find out just that.


artists JR & Marco traveled extensively through the region since 2005 and came to the conclusion that afterall the people inhabiting those areas don´t look so much different from one another- or at least they don´t from an outsider´s perpective-


the endless similarities they have encountered within these cultures where judaism, christianity and islam coexist somehow together, convinced them that it was about time to put these people face to face.


it is a truly hilarious and profound project which tries to find solutions to the cultural conflicts in the middle east, and for once, with a good dose of fun.


so if on the 4th of march you find yourself by any chance around bethlehem checkpoint on the palestinian side or if you are near the abu dis gas station at the end of jericho road on the israeli side on the 7th of march,
you must go and check it out!

CONTAINER-TOWER FOR IBA HAMBURG

at TU BERLIN architecture students planned potential buildings for IBA HAMBURG.

IBA HAMBURG is a construction-project (completion 2013), which shows the future of a international metropolis. because of todays mobilisation of people and companies a city like hamburg have to keep up with the „Standortwettbewerb“. therefore IBA (Internationale Bauausstellung) changed the original idea of just an architecture-exibition to a kind of „Stadterneuerung“.





yesterday afternoon i visited the concept-seminar presentation of schadi weiss (9th semester). in his project he designed a container-tower. his model shows the flexibility of containers and concurrently a really impressive architecture – also prof. hascher was enthusiastic :)

his idea is a construction where containers are fixate on a platform on diverse levels of the tower. archictectural however it looks as if the containers "hover" or just "stick" in the tower (the red ones are the containers, but the model photo defines that better than me). it’s possible to place and apply those containers flexibel – initially for IBA and afterwards for diverse events, exhibitions and also restaurants (therefore he planned the „Gastro-Ebene“).

i hope after my explanation you know a little bit more about IBA HAMBURG than those people.

schadi weiss and his friend and colleague stefan endewardt founded the design büro void-architecture. we can be curious about it - maybe in future they'll plan another container project, which come true...

SPRING FESTIVAL

first of all HELLO to all platoonies.

i'm using my first blog entry for a little promotion dedicated to my homeland austria: klein aber fein :)

so i recommend you the SPRING FESTIVAL – austria’s festival for electronic art & music, which takes place every year from 16 – 20 May in graz.












this year, we are already at SPRING SEVEN. you will find a lot of international electronic top-acts, superstar-djs and visual artists, but also newcomer-djs.















moreover you can attend lounge-talks with famous djs and also dj- and vj-workshops (in cooporation with fachhochschule joanneum, graz), where the participants create visuals for the last evening.















5 days, 4 nights, a lot of impressive locations/clubs (it’s not an open-air-festival) and more than 250 international and national djs, live-acts and visual artists showing that this is one of the most important electronic-events in europe.

from march 1-17 you can buy limited special-price festival tickets for 40€ (after it costs 60€).

february: 5th pecha kucha night in berlin

this one is going out to you. so read carefully. pecha kucha is back on the floor. this time the pecha kucha location is held at the ballhaus ost in the pappelallee 15, prenzlauer berg, and of course presented by pecha kucha berlin, pecha kucha or 20/20: fast, furious, fun and information. the start is supposed to be on 8:20 p.m., so do not forget to be in time. doors will open on 7:30 p.m. the amount for the entry is like 4€ each.

NEW OPENING

tomorrow evening at 8 p.m. is the opening of the supermarkt2.0 super arts & services at the wrangelstr.20 corner to puecklerstr. the area is of course known as x-berg. for all who do not know the location that good, in former times it used to be the plus-market. the new thing about this spot is the fact that there are 12 offices and artists from now on, who want to present and offer their new concept to you. the opening night will be a thrilling event. in fact there is a huge music-line-up starting with elvis trashley and from 10 p.m. with 3 more live acts of the second generation, including

we have a crazy man here in platoon . no, he doesn´t come from köln. but he likes the tipical german carnival. as you can see.....in fact during this time he does everything you can imagine so that we always have fun here in our container: with helau alaaf a.s.o.

and there I found the ideal bike for all city slickers.....
