presenting one of his work in past. this is a photograph of him wearing 저고리; jeogori - upper garment of Korean traditional clothes. he created this with tape.
explaining his on-going project 'photographers for korean prostitute'. he plans to work on this during residency period. he wants to keep it open to others' ideas rather than implementing his idea to others in the beginning of the process.
paying close attention...
tilman is going to document the working process via website; www.proto.sinnfrei.co.uk if you want to give him an inspiration or are just curious about what he is doing, feel free to reach him through this site.

review of SHOWCASE REBOOT vol. 8
• January 25. 2010 • KUNSTHALLE
on jan 21, the opening of showcase vol. 8 was held at PLATOON KUNSTHALLE. this time, heidi j. boisvert, orcfinga, do young jun, and visualozik presented their bright ideas through clever execution. honney and udo welcoming artists and audience of the night. On the left-hand, orcfinga is awaiting to give a brief intro of the work.
do young jun’s 'watermelon samurai' engaged much attention as the witty combination of cruel motion and cartoon-flavored watermelons creates a sense of apprehension. the patterns look so real!
paintings of orcfinga consist lively lines and exuberant colors. these exaggerated features have their own characteristics.
have a chance to look at very interesting projector-based projects by visualozik. the group aims to blur the separation between projected image and object/space.
there's also the computer game 'ICED! I Can End Deportation' displayed. cyber-experience of precarious immigrant living with the constant threat of detention, and deportation... such an edutainment!

SHOWCASE REBOOT VOL. 8
udo lee • January 19. 2010 • KUNSTHALLE
THU 21 JANUARY . TIME: 07:00 PMnew artists will present their works in the showcases on the first floor!
HEIDI J. BOISVERT
heidi j. boisvert is a new media artist, experimental filmmaker, writer and educator whose work excavates issues of mental colonization and the variegated ways in which organized power threatens independent action and thought. at PLATOON KUNSTHALLE she presents “ICED! I Can End Deportation”, a 3d rpg game that was developed in cooperation with human rights organization breakthrough. ICED! enables the player to inhabit the precarious day-to-day experiences of an immigrant living with the constant threat of detention, and deportation.

ORCFINGA
orcfinga, a member of the supacrqs crew, is a painter and illustrator. his paintings depict characters, often with exaggerated features that in combination with the concentrated use of colors transmit an instant impact on the viewer.

DO YOUNG JUN
do young jun’s “watermelon samurai” is a set of scultpures. the setting shows a samurai just after a fight, pieces of chopped-up enemies around him. the fact that the samurai as well as his victims are watermelons adds a cartoon-like flavour to the scene that after a while provokes a feeling of uneasiness.
VISUALOZIK
in their projector-based projects, visualozik works towards a visual perception that overcomes the separation of projected visuals and the space and objects involved in the setting. the rhythm-oriented approach of their abstract minimalist aesthetics are the perfect basis for collaborations with electronic musicians like quandol and ujn&nova.

introduction illa
illa • January 19. 2010 • PLATOON.members
hi,my name is illa and today is my third day as a PLATOON team member in seoul.
a few things about me: i was born in seoul and went to germany - to be exact: kiel - when i was eleven, so i think i'm kind of a 1.5sae (one and a half generation), as koreans like to call it. In korean there are really definitions for everything to sum things up nicely but shouldn't mean anything... for instance i'm also a kieler sprotte, admittedly a bit mitte-schickse and a star wars nerd, try to sum that up :)
after studying fashion design in berlin i worked in a PR agency called markengold PR. i lived in Germany for 18 years and though i already miss berlin a lot i'm thrilled to be in seoul and really live in the city and not just spend my holidays once a year.
Despite my love for the city i know that seoul, especially gangnam is a tough place for subculture. When i first came to a KUNSTHALLE event i realized that this (for me then) unfathomable group of people is establishing something unique here and i wanted to be a part of it. and now that i am, can't wait to get involved!
i'll keep you posted
p.s. last but not least, a project that i really support:

PLATOON @ JAMES TURELL
Julia • January 18. 2010 • URBAN COMMUNICATION
on friday the PLATOON berlin crew made a trip to wolfsburg to enter the fascinating light spheres of james turell.turell realized his largest light installation in kunstmuseum wolfsburg- a huge white cube with spheric light.
when you enter the room through the gate you feel like floating in color- turell creates a room through light.
the borders of this room are not concrete- if there wasn´t a physical wall you couldn´t tell how big the room is.
despite the funny shoe-protection it´s has a bit of an unearthly experience.
after 10 minutes we all felt a bit dizzy and went on to a darker installation where some of us got lost in the dark - i can´t fight the feeling that they increased the number of security when our group entered the exhibition. ;)
a great day with great people!- sure this was not the last exhibition the platoon crew rocked.
